Strengthening columns
Structural strengthening of the columns in reinforced concrete buildings may be realised by adopting traditional techniques, such as jacketing and steel jacketing, or by adopting innovative solutions, such as composite materials.
Thanks to the high tensile strength of the fibres, in the case of the latter option, it is possible to limit the application thickness while maximising structural strengthening.
For strengthening reinforced concrete columns , Ruregold recommends the FRCM (Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Matrix), HPFRC (High Performance Fibre Reinforced Concrete) and FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymers) systems.
